FFCCCII honorary chairman dies at 72

The Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Inc. (FFCCCII) mourns the passing last August 2 of its honorary president, Dr. Henry Lim Bon Liong, 72.

In a statement, FFCCCII president Dr. Cecilio Pedro described Lim as an exemplary philanthropist, a respected business and a civic leader.

Considered the Father of Philippine Hybrid Rice, Lim has espoused for Philippine rice self-sufficiency through a pioneering hybrid rice technology from China which had left an indelible mark on agriculture and have benefitted millions of Filipino farmers.

Lim was also chairman of Sterling Paper Group of Companies.

Lim was an engineering graduate of the University of the Philippines Diliman and of Harvard Business School.

Wake and memorial service will be held at the Sanctuarium on Araneta avenue, Quezon from August 5 to 11.

Lim’s remains will be cremated on August 12. Inurnment will be announced.
